Obtained at level one, Guiding Bolt has great range, high damage, and provides the next attack roll against the target with an advantage. Meaning, that the follow-up attack against the target will roll two D20s, rather than one.
When it is hard to hit the enemy and we do low (20 ish) damage on our strong hits we can see that it is beneficial to use Inflict Wounds. When we do high damage and/or have a middling chance to hit it is better to use Guiding Bolt.
