Take your pets to your local city or county shelter, animal control, SPCA, or Humane Society where they will likely be adopted out. The Critter Corral was founded in 1999 to find homeless and unwanted Guinea Pigs new, loving homes. We are run out of private homes and appointments are made for adoptions and visits. To date Critter Corral has taken in 4500 homeless guinea pigs.
Adopt a Rescued Guinea Pig. People are often unaware that many local shelters have guinea pigs, or that a cavy rescue could be located nearby. In many parts of the country, hundreds of rescued guinea pigs need homes - primarily as a result of caretaker surrenders.

Our guinea pigs are family no matter where they came from. We do not allow everyone to adopt guinea pigs!
Guinea pigs are gentle, curious pets. Pet stores breed and sell guinea pigs, often advertising them as low maintenance pets. Because they require special care and attention, they often end up in shelters when pet owners aren’t able to meet their specific needs.
