Hail Mary. — The Hail Mary (sometimes called the “Angelical salutation”, sometimes, from the first words of its Latin form, the “Ave Maria”) is the most familiar of all the prayers used by the Universal Church in honor of our Blessed Lady. It is commonly described as consisting of three parts.
In the year 1525 the Hail Mary was already found in popular catechisms, but the definitive formula, as we prayed it, was fixed by Pius V in 1568 on the occasion of the liturgical reform. God saves you.
Mary means: "Lady", "Beauty", "Star of the sea", with everything that means "Star": guide, shelter, refuge, hope, consolation, help. Maria is Star. As the Star guides the navigator to the port, Mary leads us to heaven.
