Preserving & furthering the education of Haitian medical students & physicians. The Haiti Medical Education (HME) Project, a non-profit 501 (c)3 organization, works in alliance with Haitian medical leadership, faculty and students to support and improve the medical education system in Haiti.
HELP provides students with full tuition and books at internationally recognized Haitian universities; stipends; dormitory housing; a computer lab; reliable electricity and internet connections, and a library.
In 2001 the Aristide Foundation for Democracy broke ground on the construction of Haiti’s largest medical school. Haitian, American, Cuban and European physicians joined in this initiative, a collaboration made possible by restored diplomatic relations between the governments of Haiti and Cuba.
