Haleakalā National Park is a national park of the United States located on the island of Maui, Hawaii. Named after Haleakalā, a dormant volcano within its boundaries, the park covers an area of 33,265 acres (52.0 sq mi; 134.6 km 2), [1] of which 24,719 acres (38.6 sq mi; 100.0 km 2) is a wilderness area. 4 Μαρ 2023 · The summit of Haleakalā is reached by the Haleakalā Highway, a ten-mile “driveway,” if you will, that zig-zag its way from the main entrance gates about 10 miles to the upper craters and viewing areas. Don’t be fooled by the distance – the ten miles is very slow going, twisting and turning with lots of pull offs.
Visitors with National Park Passes, should bring their pass and ID ready to present at the gate for entry. Sunrise reservations can only be obtained online through Recreation.gov and must be made prior to visiting the park.
