The following are the norm values provided with the Camry Electronic Handgrip Dynamometer, useful for rating grip strength values for a wide range of age groups and for tracking improvements with strength training and during rehabilitation.
For each age and gender category tested, senior athletes demonstrate dominant hand grip strength that ranges from 8.6-11.1 kg higher for males and 5.5 to 8.9 kg higher for females (p values<.0001) than published community-dwelling norms.
... age groups were collapsed by calculating the mean score across percentiles by five-year age groups between ages 20 and 69 for the mCAFT, sit-and-reach flexibility test, jumping height test...
Percentile rank values for the left hand in men between 85 and 89 years old overlapped across the 45th and 50th percentiles when expressed as kilograms (see Appendix 2). The percentile rank tables for women (measured in kilograms) demonstrated overlap across several age groups (Appendices 5 and 6).
7 Φεβ 2014 · A change of more than 6 kg (13.2 lb) is necessary to detect a genuine change in grip strength 95% of the time. (Reddon et al., 1985) Small change: effect size 0.01 for men’s non-preferred and women’s preferred hand and 0.13 for men’s preferred and 0.14 for women’s non-preferred hands over 10 week trial.
The mean grip strength ranged from 49.7 kg for the dominant hand of men 25 to 29 years of age to 18.7 kg for the nondominant hand of women 75 to 79 years of age. The researchers also present reference regression equations for the dominant and nondominant sides of men and women. The explanatory variables in the equations are age, height, and weight.
Normal values for handgrip strength in 920 men and women over 65 years, and longitudinal changes over 4 years in 620 survivors
