Dealers and retailers must file inventory declaration forms with the county appraisal district each year listing the total sales, leases or rentals, as applicable, in the preceding year and an inventory tax statement with the tax office each month.
Complete the information on each motor vehicle sold, including the date of sale, model year, model make, vehicle identification number, purchaser’s name, type of sale, sales price and unit property tax. The footnotes include: MV – motor vehicle inventory – sales of motor vehi-cles.

You may obtain a certified appraisal on the Texas State Comptroller’s “Used Motor Vehicle Certified Appraisal form” (form 14-128) and submit it when you apply for title, within 30 days of the sale date. The signature on the form must be original.
