In Japan, the game is known as Akumajō Dracula , so besides the different name it gained in the west, Haunted Castle is a game from the Castlevania saga, and also a remake of the first Castlevania (as are Vampire Killer , Super Castlevania IV and Castlevania Chronicles ).
Level 1: Graveyard in the Woods. Simon begins his quest fighting his way through a cursed graveyard. The everpresent "town to be terrored" is visible in the background. Speaking of backgrounds, they are not to be ignored! All throughout the backgrounds and foregrounds will play a part in the game.
