Graphs find use in many real-world domains, including supply chain management, bioinformatics (understanding biological systems), epidemiology (modelling disease spread), internet and computer network analysis, transportation system optimization, and social network modelling.
Hexagonal paper shows regular hexagons instead of squares. These can be used to map geometric tiled or tesselated designs among other uses. Isometric graph paper or 3D graph paper is a triangular graph paper which uses a series of three guidelines forming a 60° grid of small triangles.

Necessary? Not really. But it helps to draw them faster and they look clearer and more organized - something that might help later on when you revisit your notes. But as someone in the comments pointed out: the graph paper is only suited for hexagonal shapes. Tough chance drawing a e.g. cyclic pentose.
Graphs can be very resourceful tools used in real life in order to help people see where they can go and the diferent routes they can take to get there. There are various examples of these graphs, but for now we will use K ̈onigsberg Bridge Problem as an example.
