SUMMARY. The bone marrow examination is an essential investigation for the diagnosis and management of many disorders of the blood and bone marrow. The aspirate and trephine biopsy specimens are complemen-tary and when both are obtained, they provide a comprehensive evaluation of the bone marrow.
3 Μαρ 2024 · A comprehensive laboratory bone marrow examination includes a complete blood count (CBC) and analysis of the peripheral blood smear (PBS), bone marrow aspirate, core biopsy specimen, clot section, and cytometric flow.
15 Μαΐ 2015 · Summary. Bone marrow (BM) tissue biopsy evaluation, including trephine biopsy and clot section, is an integral part of BM investigation and is often followed by ancillary studies, in particular immunohistochemistry (IHC). IHC provides in situ coupling of morphological assessment and immunophenotype.
Abstract. While a complete blood count provides information regarding possible treatment-related effects reflected in the peripheral blood, morphological evaluation of bone marrow cytology and paraffin sections provides information about bone marrow tissue architecture that otherwise would be missed by examination of peripheral blood alone.
7 Φεβ 2011 · Histological evaluation alone will provide an assessment of overall hematopoietic cellularity, can identify subtle focal or multifocal lesions not easily identified by smear evaluation (i.e., necrosis or inflammation), and may allow for a general estimation of the proportion and maturation of granulocytic and erythroid cells, as well as megakary...
4 Σεπ 2008 · Bone marrow smears should be prepared immediately following aspiration. Smears prepared from EDTA samples should be made as soon as possible to reduce storage artefact. To prepare smears, the aspirate should be expelled into a small plastic or siliconized glass dish, and a Pasteur pipette used to draw up particles, which are placed on glass ...
