On 29 September 2020, while crane hunting near Delta Junction, Alaska (64° 02ʹ N, 145° 44ʹ W), Lenze took a Hooded Crane (Grus monacha) when it landed among decoys with a flock of 70+ Sandhill Cranes (Antigone canadensis). The bird had been in the vicinity for several days, but its exact arrival date is unknown.
