Hounds & Jackals is a strategy board game from the Ancient Games of Egypt collection from NewVenture Games. It came into existence during the Middle Kingdom, around the 9th Dynasty, circa 2135 – 1986 BCE.
Since the actual rules played thousands of years ago are unknown, game historians have devised several sets of rules that can be played on the board. So Hounds & Jackals is actually several games in one, and players can choose the rules they like best. Made in the USA for 2 players age 6+.
This set of the game Hounds and Jackals was unearthed in 1910 by British archaeologist Howard Carter, and is currently on display in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC (26.7.1287a–k).
