Memorial Park Golf Course is known as one of the best municipal courses in the nation and is visited by more than 60,000 patrons each year. The course originally began as a 9-hole course with sand greens, built near the hospital at Camp Logan for use by convalescent soldiers (1912).

MEMORIAL PARK GOLF COURSE. In 2019, the Astros Golf Foundation pledged to refurbish Memorial Park Golf Course to make it a world-class playing field for all Houstonians. With the renovations, the Astros Golf Foundation ushered in the return of the PGA TOUR's Houston Open to Memorial Park for the first time since 1963.
The PGA Tour is back inside the loop. Memorial Park, a municipal golf course near downtown Houston, was awarded the Houston Open starting in 2020. The event moved from well north of town in Humble at the 36-hole, semi-private Golf Club of Houston to just inside I-610.
