Technical divers can safely dive to depths of 100 meters (330 feet) or more, but this requires extensive training and experience. It is important to note that diving depth is not the same as sea level. Sea level is the average height of the ocean’s surface, while diving depth is the distance from the surface to the bottom of the ocean.
An atmospheric diving suit (ADS) allows very deep dives of up to 700 metres (2,300 ft). [6] These suits are capable of withstanding the pressure at great depth permitting the diver to remain at normal atmospheric pressure. This eliminates the problems associated with breathing pressurised gases.

As a general rule, it is recommended that recreational scuba divers limit their dives to a maximum depth of 30 meters (98 feet) and a dive time of no more than 60 minutes while technical divers can dive as deep as 350 feet or more, exceeding the recommended maximum depth of 130 feet for conventional scuba diving.
For the majority of recreational scuba divers the maximum depth you can dive is 40 metres (130 feet), with the exception of BSAC divers who can dive to 50 metres (164 feet). But how deep you can dive depends on which scuba diving organisation you train with and the level of certification you reach.
