6 Ιαν 2009 · Just wondering what would be a good gear oil choice for my 93 C1500. The truck has 157k miles and I do moderate towing with it. I was leaning towards Valvoline Synpower 75w140 or BG 75w140. GM calls for 80w90 dyno, but it seems like with the newer synthetics I'd be better off with the 75w-140. Any opinions?
This transmission takes 4 quarts of gear oil. RPO codes are MT8 & MW3 depending on year model. It should be noted if you have the light duty 5 speed (NV3500, 5LM60, etc. as noted in Mike's post) the gear oil used should be GM's Syncromesh fluid, or equivalent...
