31 Μαΐ 2007 · I am trying to work out how to calculate the geometric mean of a series of values, some of which are negative, ie. investment returns over a series of years with some negatives. The Geomean function doesn't work because it only uses positive numbers.
2 Οκτ 2021 · Learn how to calculate geometric mean when you have zero or negative numbers in your data series. @RKVarsity
3 Απρ 2022 · The formula is for geometric means where you at least take the n-th root of a negative number, namely $(-a)^{\frac1{n}}$, $a\geq 0$. This results in a complex number. First of all we have the identity $\left(e^{i\cdot \pi}\right)^n=(-1)^n $. That means that $(-1)^{0.25}=e^{i\cdot \pi\cdot 0.25}$
2 Δεκ 2021 · The geometric mean is most appropriate for ratio levels of measurement, where variables have a true zero and don’t take on any negative values. Negative percentage changes have to be framed positively: for instance, −8% becomes 92% of the original value.
Online geometric mean calculator to easily calculate the geomean of a set of numbers. It accepts percentages directly and is versatile enough to handle negative numbers intelligently so it is useful for finding the average return of investment.
22 Οκτ 2024 · To use negative numbers in a geometric mean calculation, you have to convert them to a proportion. For example, if you had an investment that returned -3%, you would use 1 - 0.03 = 0.97...
29 Οκτ 2024 · In order to find the geometric mean, multiply all of the values together before taking the nth root, where n equals the total number of values in the set. You can also use the logarithmic functions on your calculator to solve the geometric mean if you want.
