1 Ιαν 2008 · You've hit on the main issue. The service manual lists the cam chain tensioners as wear items, giving the tolerances for wear. But nothing in the service manual lists checking the tensioners as part of the scheduled maintenance procedure. This is where HD screwed up.
12 Σεπ 2020 · I had a 2006 Heritage TC 88, 54K miles with the original cam chain tensioners shoes with Half wear on them. I credited it to Red line engine oil, I used Red line 20-50 from day one, and changed the oil and filter every 3-4 K miles. I do not go with harley's oil change at 5K, When the oil gets dirty it needs to be changed.
24 Σεπ 2009 · My 2006 FLSTC has been carefully maintained in accordance with the H-D recommended service schedule that no where mentions the cam chain tensioner shoes. After reading in this forum, I asked the dealership about the cam chain issues.
