I have an Everdrive and tested every single game that supports the Expansion Pak. On 95% of them, when you enable hi-res mode (courtesy of the Expansion Pak), the frame rate is worse than the regular mode. And I also have no idea why no one mentions that the ONLY thing the Expansion Pak improves is resolution.
11 Νοε 2022 · The Nintendo 64 must have a Jumper Pak or Expansion Pak installed in order to run games. The Jumper Pak came with the system, while the Expansion Pak is a 4MB RDRAM expansion that enhances some games and is required for others.
The Expansion is very useful for Quake 2 as it boosts the framerate quite substantially. It is also useful for Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine where it boosts the game's resolution, framerate and it unlocks level 13 which is otherwise locked if you play with the Jumper Pak.
