26 Δεκ 2019 · An important reason may be the plethora of methods and devices claiming to measure arterial stiffness in humans. This brief review provides a concise overview of methods in use, indicating strengths and weaknesses.
An important reason may be the plethora of methods and devices claiming to measure “arterial stiffness” in humans. This brief review provides a concise overview of methods in use, indicating strengths and weaknesses.
Pulse Wave Velocity (PWV) is a simple and non-invasive measurement, which can be measured at various locations along with the arterial circulation to assess arterial stiffness.
Increased arterial stiffness affects the capacity of the aorta and elastic arteries to adapt to pressure variations during the cardiac cycle. The main markers of arterial stiffness are pulse wave velocity (PWV), augmentation index (AIx) and central aortic pressure. They can be measured noninvasively.
27 Φεβ 2020 · A targeted approach in selected populations—guided by existing CVD risk score or the presence of other factors such as white coat hypertension—should facilitate clinical value and cost-effectiveness. Against this backdrop, we will discuss potential clinical utility of measures of arterial stiffness.
An important reason may be the plethora of methods and devices claiming to measure arterial stiffness in humans. This brief review provides a concise overview of methods in use, indicating strengths and weaknesses.
24 Σεπ 2020 · Randomized controlled trials with a variety of interventions designed to investigate the effects on arterial stiffness and hopefully to improve the CV disease outcomes have been summarized in several systematic reviews, such as antihypertensive treatment, 7 body weight reduction, 8 statin, 9 and anti-diabetic drugs. 10 Therefore, measuring ...
