23 Δεκ 2018 · If you are going the wood furnace route, I'd figure out a way to get the wood through your basement window before I purchased a unit. Most HVAC companies are hesitant to install any kind of wood furnace because of the liability.
In this video I use a ranco aquastat and a type 91 relay to wire my wood boiler into my central air unit to utilize a single thermostat.
A simple guide for typical systems is if you have less than 7’ of drop per 100’ of supply piping to the potential pump location in the building, the pump should ideally be at the outdoor furnace. If the drop is more than 7’ per 100’, the pump could be effectively located in the building.
Valves V-4 and V-5 are used in conjunction with the by-pass piping to isolate the heat exchanger when the wood fuel boiler is not in operation for extended periods of time. Circulator pumps must be sized correctly to provide; sufficient flow to meet the building load and to over-come head resistance of the piping, fittings, valves and equipment.
