  1. 25 Νοε 2013 · I want to remove an aluminum angle bar from the transom of my fiberglass boat (used to support the swim platform) that has been screwed into the hull using SS screws. I tried heating the screws with the tip of a soldering iron first, but no luck.

  2. 12 Μαΐ 2009 · Once you get the bolt out, clean the hole with an aerosol such as 'Brake Cleaner' then air pressure, then run a tap down the hole and clean again. When re-assembling, use copious quantities of marine grease applied to the bolt threads.

  3. 1 Δεκ 2020 · There are so many "good" ways to remove stuck bolts on the internet. One that I've seen that seems to work well is using the torch and of course penetrating oils and take a hammer and peen the head of the bolt to help fracture any corrosion before you start trying to remove it.

  4. 18 Απρ 2020 · If you can't hit the head because of clearance issues, try using a drift pin/punch/another bolt against the stuck bolt and pound on that. Then try and remove it by hand, not with an impact. SS is actually pretty soft and the impact might twist off the bolt-head. You could also try thermal shocking the pieces.

  5. 8 Μαρ 2015 · The stainless screws cause the aluminum to corrode and the screws seize up. Sometimes they come out with a bit of patience, drips of penetrating oil and a wait and maybe a tap with an impact driver.

  6. 15 Ιουλ 2016 · Smacking the head of the bolt a few times with a hammer can help, as can doing a small 'tightening' turn before loosening it. However, the best way is to hit it with heat. The aluminum case itself is going to expand significantly faster than the bolt, so that can break up the corrosion enough to unbolt it.

  7. 6 Δεκ 2009 · The old 5/16" stainless machine bolts are threaded into aluminum and are cold welded, or seized, or whatever, they just do not move. Now that I have rung one off, I decided to ask if there are any suggestion on how to get the bolts out in one piece.
