Unlike other forms of vitamin E, tocotrienols are less commonly found in nature. Most of the food we eat contains tocopherols instead of tocotrienols.
The results indicate that single tocotrienols were bioavailable six hours after supplementation from the lower dose and that there was a trend of improved arterial compliance in all treated groups with two months of tocochromanols intake .
The main sources of tocopherols are almond oil and other nut oils, olive oil, sunflower oil, rapeseed oil, corn oil, linseed oil, and soybean oil. Tocotrienols, in turn, can be found in palm and rice bran oil, wheat germ, barley, oats, hazelnuts, maize, and in annatto oil [4, 7].
