The cost-effectiveness to vaccinate boys and men remain controversial. Although there is a clear medical benefit in preventing anogenital and oropharyngeal cancers in men, these cancers remain comparatively rare in the US, and in some models vaccinating men to prevent these cancers demonstrate an unacceptably low cost-effectiveness.
