You can do this with a UMIK-1 to test and a miniDSP 2 or 4 port to plug the subs through. A subwoofer with integrated DSP is a hell of a lot easier to work with. I don't think you can go wrong between a PB-1000 Pro and a HSU VTF2 MK5.
For consumer subs (not DIY), I still recommend SVS for entry level subs (just below 20Hz and under $600 USD). Once you get up to OPs requirements, mid-tier subs or higher, there may be better value propositions from other companies.

5 Αυγ 2022 · I'm looking to get a good subwoofer, and I'm stuck between the HSU VTF-2 MK5 and the SVS PB-1000 Pro. I'm having trouble deciding because while the VTF-2 MK5 appears to be more powerful and variable, it only has a warranty of 2 years on the electronics.
I haven't compared them but the Hsu is (or can) a ported sub (with slightly more power) that will have more output than the other two. They are all decent subs, but I would go with the Hsu since you can try it both ways.
