The Prairie Aviation Museum’s Huey helicopter was purchased from the State of Illinois Department of Central Management Services. This helicopter was stationed for approximately 3 years in Vietnam mostly at Tay Ninh.
Considered to be the most widely used helicopter in the world, with more than 9,000 produced from the 1950s to the present, the Huey is flown today by about 40 countries. Currently there are more than 3,700 UH-1's operating worldwide with around 600 registered UH-1 helicopters in the United States.
