The I Ching or Yijing (Chinese: 易經, Mandarin: [î tɕíŋ] ⓘ), usually translated Book of Changes or Classic of Changes, is an ancient Chinese divination text that is among the oldest of the Chinese classics. The I Ching was originally a divination manual in the Western Zhou period (1000–750 BC).
In I Ching, each hexagram has its own particular meaning in divination. So do the lines of it. They represent yin and yang, the basic polarities of Chinese cosmology and philosophy.
The I Ching, often referred to as the Book of Changes, stands as an ancient text with roots deeply embedded in Chinese cosmology and Taoist philosophy. Written evidence appearing around 1000 BSE, this divination text has been a cornerstone of Chinese wisdom and guidance.
