14 Μαρ 2024 · The Idaho Wilderness Trail stretches for 296 miles across three central Idaho wilderness areas that comprise nearly four million acres. If these three wildernesses were contained within one national park, it would be America’s third largest and the biggest outside Alaska.
The system includes over 180 miles of public trails that cross eight jurisdictions and numerous private land parcels. Its roads and trails meander through 80,000-plus acres of land between the Boise Ridge and the Boise River, and offer local access for hikers, runners, mountain bikers, equestrians and off-road vehicle riders.
