Idiocracy: Directed by Mike Judge. With Luke Wilson, Maya Rudolph, Dax Shepard, Terry Crews. Corporal Joe Bauers, a decidedly average American, is selected for a top-secret hibernation program but is forgotten and left to awaken to a future so incredibly moronic that he's easily the most intelligent person alive.
Intellectual curiosity and social responsibility are mocked, society is consumed by cheap entertainment and commercialism, and the government makes its decisions in the best interests of big corporations. This subreddit is devoted to the film *Idiocracy* and to documenting the decline of modern society predicted by it.
Idiocracy is not only a "not great" film, but it's pretentious and actively harmful. Quality of the film: The film was overall done at the same quality of Joe Dirt, Office Space, and other cult classic films destined for Comedy Central releases. Entertaining for a background or repeat watch but not something that stands very strong on its own.
