iMessage is inherently designed to not be open. It’s not petty, it’s a business decision. It would be petty if it were open to android and Linux but not windows.
iMessage is a huge draw for Android users who want to move to iOS. A $5/year subscription is nothing compared to a consumer getting sucked into the Apple ecosystem for years. This alone is why iMessage will never come to Android.
