Immortal have risen from the white ashes to reclaim their throne as kings of black metal. Not many bands have been as important to a genre of music than Immortal have been to black metal over the years. Now the band are back with their first album in seven years, All Shall Fall. The album carries on exactly where Sons Of Northern Darkness finished.
The stellar opening track All Shall Fall shows just how talented Immortal clearly are, with a very progressive song structure, boasting crushing mid-paced riffs and flurries of insanely fast tremolo picking, before finding the most beautiful interlude in almost all of the black metal genre.
It's been a good few years since Abbath, Horgh and new recruit Apollyon (he of blackened thrashers Aura Noir) reunited under the banner of Immortal, and seven whole years since their last assault, the glorious Sons Of Northern Darkness.
