7 Αυγ 2024 · Annular pancreas is a morphological anomaly that results in pancreatic tissue completely or incompletely encircling the duodenum. This condition can cause duodenal obstruction and is therefore important to recognize, as radiologists are frequently the first to make the diagnosis.
ERCP and surgical confirmation were reference standards in cases of incomplete annular pancreas. Asterisk indicates that patients with complete annular pancreas who underwent CT or MRI had additional confirmation of diagnosis at ERCP (n = 5) or surgery (n = 6).
1 Ιαν 2013 · Annular pancreas is a rare congenital anomaly in which incomplete rotation of the ventral anlage leads to a segment of the pancreas encircling the second part of duodenum . There are two types of annular pancreas: extramural and intramural.
CT features most consistent with an incomplete annular pancreas in a patient with a history of frequent blood transfusions for idiopathic medullary aplasia, leading to secondary haemochromatosis. An upper GI endoscopy was performed that revealed a peptic duodenal ulcer which is considered one of the clinical presentations of the annular pancreas.
On CT and MRCP, a complete ring of pancreatic tissue surrounding the duodenum suggests complete annular pancreas, and posterolateral extension of pancreatic tissue to the duodenum suggests incomplete annular pancreas.

29 Νοε 2021 · Misdiagnosis or missed diagnosed easily occurs in incomplete annular pancreas. Both MDCT and MRI can display annular pancreatic tissue well, particularly contrast enhancement arterial phase, which is highly recommended to diagnose annular pancreas.
