The Olentangy Indian Caverns are a series of caves, natural passages and rooms occupying three different levels. The caverns were formed millions of years ago by an underground river that cut through the limestone rock.
Explore at your own pace with the self-guided tour. Stop at 7 stations in the cave with audio recordings and informative plaques. If you listen to every station, the tour takes 20 - 30 minutes. But you are free to explore for as long as you (or your little ones) would like. Petting zoo admission is required for adults and kids.
Descend 105 feet below the surface of the earth, learn ancient lore, play miniature golf, pan for gems and arrowheads, explore exhibits, enjoy the petting zoo, and stay cool in the caverns where it is always 54 degrees. Olentangy Indian Caverns is open April-October.
It is a great place to spend a couple hours, and there are activities for the whole family to enjoy. The cost to get in is reasonable. A place to mine for gems, a petting zoo, and a treasure hunt maze will help keep the kids entertained. The caverns themselves are not too big. There are stairs that must be climbed, so be award of that.
