Indianapolis Opera is an opera company based in Indianapolis, Indiana. It is the only professional opera company in Indiana, and it hosts a number of fully staged productions each season. [1] It also supports a Resident Young Artist Program for young singers in emerging operatic careers.

Indianapolis Opera. Formed September 29, 1975, through the efforts of Miriam Ramaker of Indiana Central University (University Of Indianapolis) and other opera enthusiasts, the Indianapolis Opera Company began modestly as a not-for-profit corporation.
Located at the Basile Opera Center in the Meridian-Kessler neighborhood of Indianapolis, the mission of the Indianapolis Opera is to educate, inspire, and entertain through the creation and presentation of musical storytelling for the Hoosier community.
