14 Ιουλ 2023 · The line intercept method/transect (LIT) has been used by plant ecologists for many years to estimate plant density. The method is simple to describe and involves locating a line transect or transects at random and measuring the proportion of the line (s) intercepted by the objects (e.g., plants) and the number of objects intercepted.
The line-intercept method was highlighted as a tool to 1) quickly determine community structure and 2) investigate the relationship between plant species and any independent variable present along a transitional zone.
1 Ιαν 2000 · The line transect method uses a guide such as a measuring tape, laid out over a given area so that the species, number of plants and the transect portion occupied by each type of plant that...
where x is body size, y is organ size, log b is the intercept of the line on the y-axis and α is the slope of the line, also known as the allometric coefficient.
The line intercept method is simple, just measure the distance of first contact to the last contact of the species along the line. But, what should be done when plants overlap on the line? And what if there is a gap in intercept for a single plant?
1 Μαΐ 2007 · Interest in surveys for monitoring plant abundance is increasing, due in part to the need to quantify the rate of loss of biodiversity. Line transect sampling offers an efficient way to monitor many species.
Use analysis of covariance (ancova) when you want to compare two or more regression lines to each other; ancova will tell you whether the regression lines are different from each other in either slope or intercept.
