The -intercept is the point on the -axis where the line intersects the -axis. Similarly, the -intercept is the point on the -axis where the line intersects the -axis. One way to describe a line using the slope and -intercept is the so-called slope-intercept form of the line.
What are intercepts and how do you find them? Intercepts are where a graph crosses either the x-axis or the y-axis. Not all functions will have intercepts, but when you are working with the graph of a linear function, it will have both an x-intercept and a y-intercept.
To graph a line, find the intercepts, if they exist, and draw a straight line through them. Use a straightedge to create the line and include arrows on either end to indicate that the line extends infinitely in either direction.
