Form I-9 Requirements. As of May 1, 2020 you can only use Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, with the 10/21/2019 revision date for all new hires and reverifications. Employers are not required to have Forms I-9 for employees hired on or before November 6, 1986.

Employers do not need to complete a new Form I-9 for current employees who have a properly completed form on file, unless reverification applies after October 31, 2023.
