20 Σεπ 2024 · Pregnancy symptoms during week 31 Braxton Hicks contractions. Have you noticed the muscles in your uterus tightening now and then? Many women feel these contractions – called Braxton Hicks – in the second half of pregnancy. Often lasting about 30 seconds, they should be irregular, infrequent, and painless (though they may feel uncomfortable).
They're perfectly normal and harmless. However, if they're painful, or you start to get them at regular intervals, it could be a sign of early labour, so contact your midwife or doctor. During the late third trimester, this plug might move into the vagina. As a result, you may notice an increase in vaginal discharge that's clear, pink or slightly bloody.
