2 Φεβ 2021 · Isaiah speaks a series of prophecies, calling out the sins of God’s people who were steeped in rebellion. From its opening verses Isaiah begins crying out to Judah: “Woe to the sinful nation, a people whose guilt is great, a brood of evildoers, children given to corruption!
Isaiah confronted one Davidic king, Ahaz (Isa. 7), who ended up being as faithless as his ancestors, and so Isaiah looked forward to a king who would be like David and have radical faith to save Israel from the Assyrian threat. This is the king described in the famous poem in Isaiah 9:1-7.

In a prophecy warning of an imminent attack upon Jerusalem (see Isaiah 22:1–25), Isaiah suggested that some of the Messiah’s suffering would occur through crucifixion. In the prophecy, he spoke of a “servant [11] named Eliakim, whom he casts as a type for the Messiah.
Isaiah prophesied of many aspects of the mortal Messiah’s life—that He would be preceded by a “voice crying in the wilderness” (40:3), be born of a virgin, be named Immanuel, come through David’s line, and dwell in Galilee.
