7 Ιουν 2024 · The use of PHENERGAN injection by intravenous injection at concentrations greater than 1 mg/mL, intra- arterial injection, or subcutaneous injection is contraindicated (see CONTRAINDICATIONS). Irritation and damage can result from perivascular extravasation, intra- arterial injection, and intraneuronal or perineuronal infiltration.
IV administration is generally avoided in the hand and wrist where infiltration into the tissue can result in damage. It should be administered slowly over 10 - 15 mins (rate of no more than 25 mg/min). IV administration should also be diluted in at least 25 - 50 mL of fluid
Any person who is unconscious or in a coma must not be treated with Phenergan. Do not give Phenergan to newborn or premature babies. If you experience an allergic reaction, seek medical help right away. Caution must be exercised when using Phenergan due to the risk of sedation.
Contraindications. Hypersensitivity or idiosyncratic reaction to promethazine, other phenothiazines, or any component of the formulation; coma; treatment of lower respiratory tract symptoms, including asthma; children <2 years of age; intra-arterial or subcutaneous administration. Tell your doctor or nurse right away if you have any burning, numbness, coldness, color changes (like skin turning red, purple, or black), pain, skin breakdown, pus, or swelling where the shot was given. This drug is injected into the muscle. Some doses may be given into a vein.
