Jasper House National Historic Site, in Jasper National Park, Alberta, is the site of a trading post on the Athabasca River that functioned in two different locations from 1813 to 1884 as a major staging and supply post for travel through the Canadian Rockies.
Built in 1913, is one of the finest and most influential examples of the rustic design tradition in Canada's national parks. A short, beautiful walk leads you to the Jasper House viewpoint and interpretation panels.
Follow the short, beautiful trail to a wooden platform and look out across the Athabasca River to a clearing where only the footprint of log buildings from Jasper House remain. Jasper National Park is a four hour drive west of Edmonton, and five hour drive northwest of Calgary.
For almost half a century Jasper House was the main stopping place for fur traders using the Athabasca, and Yellowhead passes, and an important meeting place for adventurers, voyageurs, artists and missionaries. A short, beautiful walk leads you to the Jasper House viewpoint.

In 1924, Jasper House was designated a national historic site marked by a commemorative stone and plaque. The site is located about 35 km east of the Jasper townsite and accessed via a short trail to a wooden platform with a lookout across the Athabasca River.
