THE JESUS PSALTER. The Psalter consists of three parts, each part having five petitions. Each petition is followed by "Have mercy on all sinners ..." and the last petition of each part, that is the fifth, tenth, and fifteenth petitions have an added prayer at the end.
The Jesus Psalter is believed to have been composed in England by the Brigittine monk, Richard Whitford, who called himself "the Wretch of Sion". This devotion was near and dear to the hearts of English Catholics in the days of persecution.
