Joseph Kallinger (born Joseph Lee Brenner III; December 11, 1935 – March 26, 1996) [1] was an American serial killer who murdered three people, and tortured four families. He committed the later crimes with his 12-year-old son Michael.

Joseph Kallinger was a con man who New Jersey police tracked to Philadelphia after a man of his description took several people hostage in a home and murdered a woman. When they researched his background, it appeared that he had killed one of his children as well.
Police arrested Joseph and two of his sons, Michael, 13 and James, 11 in their home after linking Kallinger to the crime with a bloodstained shirt. Joseph Kallinger was a cobbler, who went on a spree of murder, rape and robbery, involving his sons in his crimes. Was he crazy as some have assumed or just weird?
Kallinger murdered one son, Joseph Jr., after taking out a life insurance policy on the boy; the insurance company refused to pay. In July 1974, Kallinger took another son, Michael, on a spree of burglary, rape and murder across three states.
