1 Νοε 2004 · Targeted ISS observations of the jovian ring took place between December 11, 2000 and January 16, 2001. During these 5 weeks, Cassini's trajectory took it from 3.5° above the equator, to 3.2° below. On December 31, 2000 the spacecraft passed through Jupiter's ring plane; the spacecraft's closest approach to Jupiter occurred earlier the same day.
The rings of Jupiter are a system of faint planetary rings. The Jovian rings were the third ring system to be discovered in the Solar System, after those of Saturn and Uranus. The main ring was discovered in 1979 by the Voyager 1 space probe [1] and the system was more thoroughly investigated in the 1990s by the Galileo orbiter. [2]
19 Ιουλ 2022 · Jovian planets have rings because when they formed, some leftover material was caught by its gravitational field but was too far away for it to be pulled and integrated with the rest of the planet. At least that’s the most plausible theory that astronomers have.
