Blizzard of ’78: 40 years later. For severe weather fans, it was the snowstorm of a lifetime. Forty years ago this week, the Blizzard of ’78 grabbed our attention and hasn’t let go. Unrelenting snow combined with fierce winds across the central and eastern U.S. blasted Hoosiers and kept many inside for days.
One of the most powerful winter storms on record paralyzed the central and eastern United States in late January 1978. We will take a look back in time and look at how this Great Blizzard developed and share some memories from longtime residents of the area. The Great Blizzard.
