Adjuvant treatment should be considered for patients who have residual keloid tissue within the body of their ears/earlobes. Magnetic disks (Fig. 13) shall be used as the primary method of adjuvant treatment for all such patients (see KRF Guideline-MD) and should be continued for 3-4 months.
22 Αυγ 2022 · Earlobe piercings take six to eight weeks to heal, and cartilage piercings may take four to 12 months to heal. During this time, you should leave your earrings in day and night until the piercing has fully healed to prevent an infection.
Shons et al evaluated 31 earlobe keloids in 20 patients. After surgical excision of the scar and adjunctive therapy using three postoperative injections of triamcinolone; in a follow-up period of 12 to 62 months, only one keloid recurred.
27 Οκτ 2023 · Earlobes are a very frequent site of onset, since after a trauma (i.e., piercing) keloids may develop either on the helix and on the anterior or posterior lobe, from a few months up to several years after the injury.
Treatment. Left: Ear keloid before surgery. Right: Same patient after surgical excision of keloid and repair of earlobe. Ear keloids are notoriously difficult to treat, as surgical removal (excision) may lead to recurrent keloid scar formation up to 80 percent of the time. Recurring keloids may even be larger than the original keloid scar.
Various difficulties are faced during keloid excision, and we hereby describe few innovative modifications (use of needle, hydrodissection, pressure dressing, bolster button) using cost-effective and simple materials (needles, dynaplast, buttons) to ease the excision of keloids.
We investigated the efficacy of a protocol combined of excision and postoperative intralesional triamcinolone acetonide (TA) injection for treating earlobe keloids in a group of Iranian female patients.
