The track passes through many landscapes of the Fiordland National Park such as rocky mountain ridges, tall mossy forests, lake shores, deep gorges, rare wetlands and rivers.

There are three huts and two campsites along the Kepler Track, which must be booked well in advance during the Great Walks season. Camping or staying overnight in the shelters at Forest Burn and Hanging Valley is not permitted.
29 Οκτ 2024 · This hut sits well above the bush line (1085m) and has a fantastic view from the deck across the Kepler Mountains and over Lake Te Anau. Great for sunset and sunrise photos, and a wonderful day walk option from Te Anau.
There might be only three official Great Walk huts on the Kepler, Luxmore, Iris Burn and Moturau, and two official campsites, Brod Bay and Iris Burn, but there are a number of other structures that are also documented here.
30 Σεπ 2024 · If you haven’t got three to four days of hiking in your legs but still want to experience the Kepler Track then opt for the day walk to Luxmore Hut—a 13.8km trek, with panoramic views of the Te Anau basin and surrounding mountains from the hut. Trust us, the views from the top are worth the 1085-metre climb.
