  1. 10 Ιουν 2012 · Why isn't it working. Alright, I've got the Windows XP Home Edition-32 version, Service Pack 2. I bought a Gear Head keyboard yesterday, along with a Dynex usb optical mouse. My old keyboard and mouse were completly beyond repair; i threw them away. I plugged in my new usb devices.

  2. 6 Ιουλ 2011 · Power is removed from keyboard and mouse within 1 second of the XP flash screen appearing, so the BIOS is no longer used to communicate with them, which is normal. However the XP driver for the USB controller is then not loaded, which is not normal.

  3. 19 Σεπ 2012 · These drivers usually include the drivers for the USB controller as well if Windows doesn't have one built in. If that still doesn't work, try the mouse on a different computer. Your mouse may have coincidentally died at the same time that the machine was being reinstalled.

  4. 1 Νοε 2011 · 1) Using any USB keyboard/mouse (including wireless and wired), I have no problems in the BIOS or using any Live CD (including Ubuntu 10.10, Fedora 12, WinXP Ultimate Boot Disk, Seagate DiscWizard, etc.) 2) During normal boot, as soon as the Windows XP logo appears, the lights go out on the mouse.

  5. 2 Ιουν 2010 · Going through it, the correct keyboard and mouse are identified, but XP can't find the drivers. I've tried manually searching for the driver (using the Have Disk option) - the first file it's looking for is in the c:\i386 directory, but that installs a generic HID mouse device; the system then runs the hardware wizard for a new "unknown" device.

  6. 27 Ιουν 2009 · It seems that removing SP3 has also corrupted the generic mouse and keyboard drivers. I can get to the logon screen, but that's as far as it goes. Neither the mouse nor the keyboard responds once XP has loaded.

  7. First, try checking your hardware. Unplug USB cables and wait for a little while for the device driver to be unloaded by Windows, and then plug the device back in. Try using a different USB port on your PC. If you use a USB hub between the device and the PC, make sure the hub has power.
