It is an obliterator, a destroyer of worlds. The effects the OP saw were it working as intended. It is Mutually Assured Destruction. The hail-mary pass that always completes.

I personally have used their products without complaint many times. kilz original oil based primer is $67 compared to zinnser all prime which I can get for$95 for what I would say are identical products from different manufacturers.
The original (oil based) Kilz primer/sealer is very good. It effectively blocks all kinds of tough stains from bleeding through, so I use it on tough repaint jobs like cupboards and kitchen walls/ceilings. I don't see the point of using it on regular new drywall.
