21 Μαΐ 2024 · Knee popping can happen when there's something mechanically wrong with the knee joint. It may feel as if something is "catching" in the knee whenever it is bent. Along with a popping or cracking sound, knee pain, swelling, tenderness, redness, and locking may occur.

There is a painful “popping” or clicking sound. There is knee pain without an injury; it hurts during or after activity. The knee is “locking,” or getting stuck, and is not able to move.
Anterior knee pain is a broad term that encompasses runner's knee, jumper's knee, patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS), chondromalacia patella and patellar tendonitis. Your child's kneecap (patella) is positioned over the front of the knee joint.

Pain might flare up when your child does activities that repeatedly bend the knee (jumping, running, and other exercises). Without treatment, your child might also develop thigh muscle (quadriceps) muscle weakness.
