According to Don Jesús, his ancestors knew “how to face change.” So rather than move into the mainland, where they’d have to contend with mosquitoes, mangroves, difficult terrain, and wild animals, the Kuna decided to settle on almost forty small islands peppering what today is the eastern Caribbean coast of Panama.

16 Σεπ 2013 · Kuna people, a colorful tribe. While the crew is loading and unloading goods on the next island we decided to take a stroll on the island where we see a different world, one of the Kuna people tribe, which consists of almost a hundred communities living on several San Blas islands.
3 Οκτ 2012 · The Kuna are friendly but fiercely independent and not too worried about tourism. They have laws set up so that no foreigner can own land in the San Blas, therefore preventing modernization and tourist infrastructure.
Guna women are known for their colorful, daily, traditional form of dress made of gold bands, nose ring, leg beads, headscarves and molas, intricately woven textiles with geometric shapes on natural colors (as shown in the photo above).
